What I read regularly

Print Periodicals

Before the Web took off, I subscribed to 55 periodicals! My day was not complete unless I had a couple of magazines or journals to read every day. Here are a few survivors:

The Economist

Excellent in-depth weekly coverage of the world. Conservative (Whig, not Tory) by British standards, generally sane and centrist by US standards.

Scientific American

Not as technical as they used to be, still the best. They do have a wierd prejudice against nano-technology - what's up with that?

New Scientist

Another great Britisth weekly. Some of their articles are more popularization than science, but on the whole they do a good job and they're very fun to read.

Websites

I spend a few hours browsing the web most days. As a confirmed infovore, I spend most of my time with websites heavy with information and knowledge. I would usually rather read well-written text than watch the best video, and I like good diagrams. Most of the websites I visit are pretty specialized, but here are a few more general sites which I particularly love:

Slashdot
Create a free account and customize the topics. I read this several times a day - It's great to be a nerd!
BBC News
I read this every day!
World Press
Excellent coverage of what's in the news around the world.
Wikipedia
I find myself reading several wikipedia articles every day, often sent there by Google searches.
Linked-In
I do my business networking here. If you do too, please let me know!
Facebook
